Day 9

Day 9

Has it really been 9 days?  Do I really only have 1 day left?  At times, time seemed to pass slow, but right now, it seems to have passed rather quickly.  I will say that since Day 7 began, I’ve had about the same amount of energy as I had prior to the cleanse.  I don’t know exactly why, but I’ve seemed to have gained energy with each passing day.  I still get hungry from time to time, but surprisingly, I don’t have many cravings.  I’m not normally a huge cravings guy anyways, but now, when I look at food or smell food, I don’t really get a craving to stuff my face.  I didn’t expect that.  I thought that I would be hungrier at this point than I am.  A friend of mine has started the cleanse, and this man is defecating ridiculously.  I, probably, haven’t went to the bathroom as frequently as most people do during the cleanse.  I’m not sure why that is, but I haven’t exactly been a stranger to the john either.  The laxative tea I drink at night seems to produce better results (i.e. more time spent on the toilet) than the salt water flushes in the morning.  That is also odd, but…I’ll take it however I can get it.

So far, as far as results, I will say that I’ve lost about a pant-size’s (maybe more) worth of weight.  I think for those folks who can lose weight quickly, they would probably lose a lot more.  Although I didn’t do this cleanse to lose weight, it is a welcome result.  As far as how I feel, I feel ok.  As far as how my body feels?  It feels relatively the same.  I would imagine though, on the inside, it must be performing and feeling a lot better, seeing that I’ve eliminated any detrimental toxins and waste in my body (or so this cleanse has me believing).  I’d imagine that the engine is a lot cleaner and will run smoother and more efficiently – at least for a little while.

I haven’t exactly concluded whether I will do this again or not.  I guess I’m waiting to see how I will feel after I return to eating solid foods.  I also want to see if, and how, my body has changed in the aftermath of the cleanse.  I’m curious to see if I will notice a big difference in my appetite and overall health.

I am proud that I was able to do it (so far), even though I was pretty confident that I would complete the cleanse…but hey, ya never know.  The body is one unpredictable motherlover.  It can protest and boycott in an instant and you’d be helpless to object.  But, my body and my mind has held up well throughout the cleanse.  There were some rough moments, but all in all, I think my body has done an admirable job.

I guess my skin is better too?  Although it’s hard to tell from beneath the Al-Qaeda look I got going on.  I should shave more than once a week.  This I know…yet rarely act upon.  Maybe if I had someone who had the unfortunate privilege of having to look at my mug everyday, then I’d be a little more motivated.

Now, on to finding some fresh-squeezed orange juice somewhere.  I hope TJ’s (Trader Joe’s) has some.  I have decided that I want to try to go to Trader Joe’s at least once every week or two to do grocery shopping.  I am within 10 minutes of the closest one and they carry a lot of unique items.  Plus they have tons of organic stuff and it’s fairly inexpensive (prices are even comparable to your local grocery chain, i.e. Kroger, Publix, Wal-Mart, etc.).  Why they don’t have one on every single block in America boggles my mind.  Everyone needs to experience Trader Joe’s.
