Now, whenever I catch wind of any software or freeware that I can use to somehow make my technological life just a smidgeon easier – I immediately want to share it with other folks. Now, there is this freeware out there called SharePod which I’ve known about for a few years, but just kept forgetting about blogging it down. SharePod is a freeware that allows you to upload songs to your Ipod from your computer and also allows you to download songs FROM your Ipod to your computer. Currently, iTunes only allows you to do the former, not the latter. I guess they are trying to protect from copyright infringement or something – I guess they don’t want you to be able to share songs or whatever by putting them on your pc.
Either way, SharePod is much simpler to use than iTunes and a whole lot less cluttered. You won’t get any annoying prompts to update the software or to upgrade anything. I even think that it transfers songs faster than iTunes and in general, works more efficiently – but maybe that’s just my biased opinion against anything manufactured by “The Man”.
Anyways, in order to use this freeware, all you have to do is download it from the SharePod Website
and save it to the root folder of your iPod. Once you have done this, you will probably have to unzip it into it’s own folder. Once that is done, just go to My Computer->whatever drive your iPod is
and find the SharePod.exe
file and double click on it. The interface is pretty straightforward and easy to use. I have used it a ton of times and haven’t had a problem. It is the best (and cheapest) way that I’ve found to transfer songs from your iPod to your computer. This comes in real handy when a friend of yours wants songs off of your iPod. So, once this SharePod is installed on your iPod, you can take your iPod to any computer and transfer songs back and forth using the SharePod program.
I just love stuff that’ll further enhance my propensity to bootleg. Honestly, where would I be without bootlegging?
If you own an iPod, this will make your life a whole lot easier.
