I dislike salesmen for primarily one reason: because they think that you (a knowledgeable customer) know zip zero shit about the product you are looking to purchase. Riddle me this, how in the world, in this advanced age of technology, can you bamboozle a customer without his knowledge?? I go to look at a car at a Nissan Dealership and the guy tacks on about another $1,300 on the listed sale price (tax, tags, title, etc). My jaw nearly dropped to the floor. Not only were they absolutely NOT willing to negotiate on that price, but they wanted to inform me that the actual value of the car was nearly $3,000 more. I just looked at the salesman and gave him that “are you fucking nuts?” look and told him there is absolutely no way that it is worth $3,000 more than what they were selling it for. I was willing to pay cash, and they didn’t budge at all on the price. I just hate the way salesmen try to tell you oodles and doodles of irrelevant information regarding your purchase, hoping that somehow you would be an uniformed customer and they would be able to swindle you. More than half of the time I go into a store to purchase something, I know more about the product I am going to buy than the salesmen, but they keep trying to feed me loads and loads of superfluous crap – hoping to sway my decision. If anything, salesmen should be more knowledgeable about the products they sell – then they won’t look so uninformed sometimes about the very products they sell. Cmon guys, customers aren’t as stupid as you think – give them some respect and maybe you will receive some in return. Now that I am in the process of buying a car, I see why people HATE car salesmen. Now, I do understand the grind of being a salesman, for I too was one before, but they can be some colossal assholes at times.
