Cookin’ Ain’t Dead!

Cooking, sure enough, is NOT dead. But you may never have been able to tell me that prior to about 3 months ago. I have occasionally dabbled into the foray of cooking every now and then, most noticeably when I invite friends over for Thanksgiving and cook them a hot, hearty Thanksgiving Day Meal. I have always wanted to cook more, but I was either too busy or too lazy to actually get my brown ass up and meander through the kitchen. But, oh, how things have changed. Over the last few months, I have cooked a variety of things, ranging from Italian to Thai. I have yet to attack any Indian foods, but that will be coming very soon. Here are some of the things that I’ve recently made:

Florentine Lasagna (my personal favorite)
Guacamole (easy, but delicious)
Black Bean Soup (healthy and very easy to make)
Green Curry with Veggie Chicken (the fake meat chicken)
Vegetarian Garlic-Herb crusted Pizza
Fettucine Alfredo (sauce made from scratch – my lil brother’s favorite)

I wish I would’ve taken a picture or something of the food I’ve cooked, because some of it looked oh so pretty. Anyways, I don’t know if this whole cooking thing is a phase I am going through or some new exciting hobby that I’ve picked up that I’m bound to relinquish within a few months. I do know this though – sometimes I am more excited about preparing a nice meal on a Friday evening than going out to a bar or club. Go figure. If someone was to tell me this about a year ago, I would’ve looked you dead in the face and bust my ass laughing so hard I would’ve given myself a hernia. I am still a novice in the cooking game, and truth be told, sometimes what I make does not turn out so well – but then there are also those times when the food you have prepared turns out exactly the way you want it to, even better sometimes. That is when you feel satisfied and feel that all the crappy food you made along the way to one plate of great food was worth it. Anyways, being a vegetarian limits the dishes I can make, but I’m finding recipes here and there for some good veggie meals. has become my new best friend, providing me with all the recipes that I need. I might have to hold on to this cooking habit…
