Tom Terrific vs Peyton “Cut that Meat” Manning

This is the matchup that we have all been waiting for: Indy vs New England. This is a matchup between two of the heavyweights of the NFL; the Colts and the Patriots. The fact that the Colts are 7-0 and that the Patriots are 6-1 has made this matchup even more intriguing and more important. If the Colts win this game, then they have a clear path to home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, and if the Patriots win, then it will be a two-horse race between the Colts and the Patriots for home-field advantage. You think Peyton doesn’t want to, need to win this game??? You think he wants to go to Gilette Stadium in the freezing snow in January??? That is like the Titanic – we all know how that story will end. Is there a quarter back more on his game right now than Peyton Manning?? He very well may have engineered his greatest masterpiece ever in the Colts’ victory this past weekend over the Denver Broncos at Invesco Field. He absolutely gashed their secondary, going 32-39 for 345 yards with 3TDs and 0 INTs against the NFL’s best and possibly most athletic defense. Tom Brady then went out and proceeded to light up the Vikings’ defense for 372 yards and 4 TDs against 1 INT. How come Brady is so damn good in domes (10-0 lifetime) and Brett Favre is so bad??? Another oddity of the NFL.

This is what the NFL is all about. The top two quarterbacks in the NFL facing off against one another for NFL supremacy. Are the Colts for real?? Their run defense has been abysmal, but that offense has been sparkling. Are the Patriots the real deal? They are 2-1 against the only real teams that they have played so far on their schedule (1 loss against Denver and 2 wins over Cincinnati and Minnesota – both of those on the road). Would you ever count out either team with the QBs that they have at the helm?? Manning’s critics have said that he shook the Patriots monkey off his back last year after they thoroughly dominated them in the regular season, but in order to say that, he will have to do it again this year, and in New England. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have to be the most quiet MVP contenders ever in the history of the NFL. Both are putting up marvelous stats, but are rarely mentioned in the MVP conversation, but that is starting to change. Not only is this a battle for NFL supremacy, but also a battle between who is the better QB. People are split down the middle between the two. There are those that feel Manning is clearly the better QB and there are those that believe that without a title and with Brady’s 3 titles, the choice is Brady.

Under the lights of NBC’s Sunday Night Football, the debate will be settled – for now. But right now, at this very moment, this is the premier matchup and rivalry in the NFL: The Colts vs The Patriots. Tom Brady vs Peyton Manning. Brady has what Manning wants, and what Brady has, he doesn’t want to let go of. These two QBs are the ultimate competitors in the NFL and I don’t know about you, but…..I’m ready for some Sunday Night Football. They said that the Indy-Denver matchup last week was the game of the year, but this game could surpass that. Bellichik against Dungy, Manning vs Brady, Maroney and Dillon vs the Colts defense, the Pats DBs against the Colts WRs – there are a ton of storylines heading into this weekend. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for things to be settled on the field.
